    THE LOCATION

East Bergholt is the birthplace of Britain’s greatest landscape painter John Constable, who drew his inspiration from the surrounding countryside. The village has primary and secondary schools and a good range of amenities, including a general store and post office, bakery, chemist, pubs and a restaurant. The market town of Hadleigh is six miles away, and Ipswich and Colchester are eight and nine miles away respectively. There are also several excellent farm shops in the area, selling locally-grown produce.
Manningtree mainline station, which is two miles away, has a direct rail link to London Liverpool Street, with a journey time of about an hour.
